A SPECIAL SURPRISE FOR BTS.NET - A RAFFLE!

Postby AndrewSeike » Wed Aug 31, 2005 1:44 pm

Hi everyone!

As you already know, I really care not only about blue tongue skinks but this site and the members on here.

I wanted to do this for a while but haven't had any real options until recently. I spoke with Zach about this a while ago but I'm ready to get this rolling with all of your help.

I wanted to raise as close as I can, 1000 dollars for this site.

What I am offering:

A SUNRISE SKINK! "Retail" price $650 dollars

In addition: I will post pictures of this animal and I promise you it will be a really nice one!

Each ticket is 10 dollars. I was hoping people would buy two. First off, if we get enough people getting tickets then it would be enough for people to buy one but more is better! I'd like all the money to go to BTS.NET. Zach pays for all of this out of his own pocket, not including hours of time keeping it updated, upgraded etc. I use to run a bbs myself in the early '90s for 4 years which ran 24/7. I would be a millionaire now if I actually was paid by the hour for what I did for it. How the payment will work is still unknown - probably all proceeds are paypaled directly to Zach. I won't see a cent of the money. I promise you.

Next year I'm also going to run another raffle for BTS.NET for the up and coming meeting in the summer. The winner of that raffle will be announced at the meeting! Even if you can't show up for it, we'll all be there to do the drawing ourselves so you'll get a call that day. I most likely won't be offering an orange next year but it will still be a beautiful pure northern baby. Who knows what I'll do.

It doesn't matter if you have a Sunrise skink or not, here is your chance to get a true orange skink.

The drawing will be done at my place with a bts.net witness(es). We'll go through the entire batch of cards to confirm all are added correctly. Then we'll do the drawing. I might do it on webcam if that is even necessary.

What do you guys think?

PS: The raffle money is also used to ship the Sunrise skink to the new owner. I was going to say Buyer pay shipping but I really want this to be a special raffle. So the more people add the better! Besides you might win the raffle!

Best regards,

Andrew

I think it's a great idea! I said I would buy one ticket, but if I'm in a position to buy more at the time I'll most definitely buy at least 2

I think this is a great idea. This site has been really helpful for me, and I'd like to give back in some way. One question... Last week I ran a tournament, and I had a raffle fundraiser at the event. I needed a raffle license. Do we need anything like that? I'd hate to have this site shut down and have all our little skinkies end up in jail!

I would definitely buy two, maybe more depending. I've been waiting to start my job to make a donation to the site, but this is even more fun! I never win anything, but at least I know the $$ is for a good cause! :-D

Are you set on the ticket price? I mean, could you do something like 1 for $5 or 11 for $50? I dunno. Just a thought.

Hmm.. That never crossed my mind.. I was going to state that if this happens while Lisa is gone, she is going to be ticked.. however she can't even get one shipped to her anyhow.. That kinda sucks. For her and all out of the USA...

Thanks for the great responses so far! I'm really having fun with this. It's going to be a great raffle!

Now I'll probably have Stacey (if she is willing) or Zenny or all three of us meet up and do the drawing. How about Paul? Sheera?

There's a few of us around the bay area so we might just have fun and go for it. I'll see what's up when we get there.

I'd be up for it. I think we should all get together sometime, anyway, so this could be a good reason to do it. Don't know if I can't afford any tickets, though... :?
