It could be a Cape York Eastern but I'm not sure.
Looks a bit like an IJ that I had some years ago.
Like Pike said, long body.
Johan.
Eastern? Northern? Intergrade?

It is some sort of cross but it is a bit hard to tell from the angle of the pic. Not seeing an IJ in the flesh unfortunately, I'd say eastern x IJ. I base this on the the shape of the head which doesn't really look like and eastern head, the tail appears too thick where it joins onto the body to be an eastern, the tail looks more IJ but the stripes definately look like and Eastern but one from up north around the gulf/Nth Qld area

This is a very dark animal, so I would expect that if he had any IJ in him, he would show at least some trace of flecking on the forelegs. Also, the head does not look IJ to me at all, and do Eastern tails differ in AU? Maybe some wild specimens are thin (and there are so many darned variations) but fat tails are typical of US bred Easterns. As far as him being part Northern, I guess I just don't see any Northern traits at all.
Here is an example of a likely IJ. Who knows what the heck this BTS is for sure -- could be a lot of species mixed in there -- but the forelegs are still clean as can be which I believe is attributed to the animal's overall lack of pattern and color.
Here is an example of one of my Easterns with a typical short fat tail. Out of pure curiosity, what does the bottom animal look like to you, Jason?

Hi,
I have several IJ's and a lot of Easterns - seen them in the past also many many times.
The head is scincoides - if you ever seen IJ's in the flesh they have a very different head shape. All of mine are mostly roundish (I do have one with a pointy head but it's still different) while all my scincoides Northern and Eastern have more pointer heads.
The tail is very hard to distinguish from that picture but IJ tails are very slim - very Indo like but then again Northerns taper as wel.
