I think if the person will take the time to write commentary then it should be included.

your picture reminded me of those old Japanese movies (Rodan, Gamera ??) and B grade 50's movies with giante bees and killer locusts and I think it's Journey to the Centre of the Earth where they fight off that rather large iguana at the end?

Well, what I was trying to say is that sometimes the commentary/stories that go with the pictures make them more interesting, funny, etc. That in itself can make one enjoy or appreciate a picture more than you would have without it. Kind of like an ad with just a picture is not the same as an ad with a witty phrase or funny line - it makes a difference. But, it's what you guys want - I'm just in a bad mood....so forgive me.

my pictures are usually pretty self explanatory and boring so I don't think a bit of commentary will help me. But I like reading people's commentary just as much as I like to look at the pictures, so I'd be happy for at least a title or one paragraph above each pic to explain them.
I can imagine how much effort everyone is going to put in for next month's that I'm already looking ahead to next years

Are the commentaries going to be able to go in the calendar?
I think commentaries should be included on the calender too. I think it'd add a lot more to the calender than just pictures.

I wish I would've voted for #9. I LOVE the expression on the bluey's face. Plus, I think the picture really fits the theme, and the type of skink in the photo is a little more unique (good variety for a calendar!)

Voting is really tight! Just wondering... Is there a minimum vote someone needs to win by or does it only take one? Let's say one picture has 14 votes and the other has 15. At the same time, there are 20 other votes for various other pictures. Does the one with 15 win? Or, should there be a vote off between the two? That way, the 20 other voters have a choice about which picture they like for the calendar. What if 19 of the 20 voters liked the one with 14 votes? I guess you can't really change the voting rules now. Just something to think about.
