which one?
hi guys. i know that this has been asked a couple of times already but what is the best cage for a BTS?
here are my choices:
1. acrylic cage, 1/2" thick, acrylic all side plus screen top
2. glass ( like an aquarium ) same specs as the acrylic ( 36" l x 20 w x 1' in ht
3. wooden cage with glass sliding door, sides are gonna with drilled vents
4. wooden cage with just screens on sides, opening will be on top
* im thinking to put the enclosure on top of my shoe cabinet in my room, so it is gonna be like a piece of furniture. thanks
my considerations are, easy to clean, safe, i live in a humid country ( ASIA) so heating wont be a problem, even cold seasons here are still hot...
thanks a bunch guys

I bought a bunch of cages when I bought my two blueys. They have the sliding fronts and all my herps seem to like that better. Before I used the aquarium type with the screen top. Instead of reaching in from above them, I can now come in at their level and it's not as scary for them. I no longer look like a giant bird swooping in to pick them up, lol.

Avatars are like shoes to me. Even though I can only wear one pair at a time, I always have a closet full!

Send me a PM with your email address and send you more larger photos. They were purchased from glasscages.com but they don't really have very good photos on there site either.
No the top isn't fixed, it's just a screen top so it can be removed for easy cleaning.

i can get it cut to a certain size, but not sure if i can silicone it myself ( not too sure if i cna do this. hehe ) why do you ask?
Its quite easy, if you make the shape ,tape it together then silicone the joints ,let it dry for a bit, remove tape when dry and voila one tank, you can get exactly what you want, it may be the only way to get a front opening tank cheap from where you are.
MMMmmmmm... Something???????

I'm not sure if that would be big enough for an adult, but definitely would work for a little one. I don't really know what the minimum requirements are for the adults. Maybe some of the experts can chime in on that.
Mine are 48 x 18 x 17. I'll take some more detailed pics and send them to you today.

Mine's wooden ,home made, front opening, I prefer to have front opening tanks coz you can get better viewing with your friends door shut or not, they're easier to pick up, eye to eye contact literally, easier to see him hiding under his water bowl so I can work his mood out:lol:

hi guys. What do you think of a all wooden cage? screen top, screen door but swing out?
im having second thoughts about the sliding door, the security and all plus if i use the swing out it would give me more space to reach in
i am just worried about cleaning, wont the urine and poop stain the wood to much? thanks!!!!

well blueys pee is made up of water and urate which is the white stuff. So forget about pee as a problem. In regards to the poop, use recycled paper kitty litter (I think it's the same as carefresh). That stuff is great, binds to the poop and helps dry it out quickly for easy removal!
