Mystery snail babies!!!! (pics)

Hey guys, what a night! Rampage knocks out the Ice Man in the first round, and 30 mins later I notice I have a ton of golden mystery snail babies in my tank! I got some bad pics, but I wanted to go ahead and let you guys know, the eggs only took a week or right over a week to hatch. I count at least 100 babies in the tank so far, and 2 small clutches aren't completely hatched... looks like Marley will eat well indeed!

Way better baby shot... yay for free skink food! (well, skink food for the price of fish food, lol)

enjoy guys! I'll have more and better ones tomorrow.

Couple more, ironically the one with the flash turned out way darker:

the bigger snails at the top are the pond variety, and at least one of the ones in the lower left is a ramshorn.

But cool anyway. My bluey wont even look at a snail twice for some reason. Looks like yours is going to have some yummy snails soon though.

really? i've heard some animals will only go for ones that have been pre crushed, but Marley will literally pick them out of food and crunch em up like cheetos.

I'll feel bad for the mystery snails, so cool and fun to watch... but I don't need to keep hundreds of them, and unless a local pet shop is willing to buy some or something, a lot will end up in Marley's chubby tummy.

Yeah I tried crushing one a few days ago, he flicked his tongue at it and walked off. I tried today (which is feeding day) I even put boiled chicken and greens with it and he ate around it lol. Ate ALL of the greens and chicken yet there the snail laid, crushed and dead haha

weird, thats too bad. Does he like worms and other insects at all? ... hopefully marley will like the mysteries, I'm only assuming he would, but for all I know, they could taste completely horrible compared to the filet mignon pond variety.

He LOVES worms and I do mean LOVES. Especially supers. He'll eat those like candy, he wont even shake his head with them. And if I drop one and try to get it out of his bedding he'll go for me too lol. He'll run to me for butterworms also. He'll eat silkworms like candy once in a while but it seems like he has cravings for those and when he's not having a craving he wont touch them. When he does though he'll eat 10 or more depending on the size. I haven't tried him on any others yet but I want to try roaches and maybe some wax worms for treats but I don't know about the wax worms.

I've got to agree with this not really being off topic. We are talking about bluey food! And as some one who couldn't get the stupid snails to lay eggs for anything, I find it interesting when people actually get eggs.

How many snails did you start with? Apple snails (mystery snails) are not hermaphrodites like some snails and you have to make sure you have a male and a female or no eggs. Pond snails on the other hand ugh you can start with one snail and end up with a tankful.

Weird, I had heard the only keys were having a male/female and lowering the water level. But the other day I raised the water line back near the top as I didn't need any more eggs for the time being until some hatched, and I still got another clutch in the 1 inch or so the snail had to work with. I really wonder how much the week long diet of greens to try and help shell health played a role, what were you feeding them?

I had 10 snails. I got eggs twice but then no baby snails. I finally got tired to changing the tank so I fed them out.

Did you have a top on the tank to keep in humidity if the egg case gets too wet or too dry the babies will drown or dry out either way no hatchlings

Hey now! I'm wrong a lot, and I admit it. so there! For example, I once thought that I would look good a brunette.....and I was horribly...horribly wrong.

Since we're on the topic of snails.....do you have to de-tox land snails the same way you do with aquatic snails? I've been finding a bunch in my yard, and I want to feed them, but I need to be sure that they're ok.

Ice cream container, Grass, lettuce, 2 - 4 days, those that are clinging are cool - those that are dead not cool. pretty easy to tell the dead ones from the live ones that couldn't be bothered holdiing on too!

I've heard zach recommend putting them in a container with greens and water for a couple days, and if they live they are good to feed i believe.
