What is ash? Is it good, or bad, or neither? I don't know!

Ash is the stuff you get when you burn something. No - I'm not being a smarty pants, I'm being serious. to my knowlege it's used as a thickening agent - much like cornflour. I'm fairly sure it's ok - but you don't wanna be feeding your bluey something with a high ash content. They need nutrients.

Getting my knowledge from working at a Hardware store for 3 years, lawn fertilizers basically composed of 3 things, Phosphorous, Nitrogen, and Potassium. Potassium is commonly called Pot Ash when talking about fertilizers and is even commonly known as Ash. So, not sure if it is the same thing, but I would think that it would be the Potassium content? Just an idea, but I could be completely wrong.

I do know that in some areas of the US ground coral is used as ash in some cat foods my roomates mom has to by special cat food because her cat is allergic to the coral ash they use in the stuff she was buying but I don't think thats everywhere
and doing a quickie online search ash is simply put the mineral content of a food or what would be left after the biological stuff gets burned away (ashes)

I'm pretty sure ash is used in the same sense in measuring inorganic pass-through or "proximates," and measure content like water, fat and protein. Ash, I think, is minerals and trace compounds found in all food. This article goes well beyond my minute understanding of "ash...":
