they were dead - I'm not harsh enough to feed live babies to my blueys. Even fuzzies - they could maybe blind one of my blueys or something - so I'm not gonna take that risk. only live food I'll give is Snails and crickets, but I don't really do the cricket thing cuz they hide too much - same with roaches.

I don't think I could really handle the squeeks just before death either.

Either your skinks are small or those pinkies are large!

I'd like to find some pinkies to try, extra calcium for my bluey and fatten my leo up a little.

i don't do pinkie mice - they are too small. I've found that pinkie rats are fatter, and juicer. the one in the pic with chopper squirted when he chomped it - yummy! :P

It looks as though my new Bluey won't be getting the luxury of pinkies - snails from the garden aren't a problem though (no weedkiller or anything round here!).

Pinkies aren't essential in a diet are they?

Not essential. But I could open up that can of worms again!

Can of worms?

Worms all the way ;) Waxworms should be ready and waiting for when the new arrival gets here...

Seriously though, is it really a hot issue?

Oh, not really, there's just been a few doozy threads about people who think it's cruel to feed live mice!

Ah, I see.

This has more to do with the issue of thawing dead ones really. Not particularly to my girlfriend's tastes ;)

zach - i know you feed or have fed live mice to your blueys - do you hear squeeks as they get chomped??? I don't think it's overly cruel - I just don't wanna hear squeek squeek Crunch.

Yep, you do hear a squeek.....and I understand it being hard to watch. I just keep telling myself that this is the world we live in! The lion eats the gazelle, the BTS the rodent. Can't feel bad about it or there would be no animals at all on this earth to enjoy.

Mostly, I'm only referring to those vegetarian/vegan types who try to force their ways on their pets. I'm not sure there's anything more inane.

I share the exact same sentiment with Zach in his last post.

Juicy little things - and good to hear they were dead before munch-time.

Zach, you almost got me going again with your comments but I will spare you guys this time  :peaceout:

My guys get frozen/thawed because they might eat live in the wild but they aren't in the wild, they are in my house and I can't stand watching them eat them. It's also convient to just take them out of the freezer, thaw them and feed. I use ofther live food to stimulate them. My guys get 2-3 small mice every couple of weeks.
