PICS! Jubbeee and Ralpheee and Santos

Postby Lisa » Mon Jun 11, 2007 10:38 pm

Hello! We’re just back from a couple of weeks holidays in Queensland. We broke the drought there, and appear to be doing the same back here. We drove through some most horrendous flooding all the way back here, it took nearly three days. Conor's still there somewhere; the prospect of 6metre swells was too much for him to resist and I dropped him & his surfboard off somewhere north of Newcastle. I expect I won’t see him for a week now. Longer if he gets eaten by a shark  We had a great time anyway but good to be back to see the kids.

….So imagine my horror when I got Santos out for a look-see and this is what I found!!
Image

Image

He looks terrible doesn’t he? I had a massive rant at my skinksitter, things were thrown, words were spoken. So I took these photos and put him to bed (Santos, not Jim) and started thinking about calling vets, and half an hour later this is what I found.
Image

All was revealed! Didn’t realize he was up for a shed, his cycles are usually much longer.
Anyway, he’s fine and dandy and gone back to bed now.
(We call that one the Princess Leia)

Jubs is just about finished a shed, just a little bit around his head left.
He looks a bit like he’s been into Conor’s special blend of rollies
Image

Gotta be wary of the sun in Aus even in winter, and wear a hat at all times! Wouldn’t know it but, it’s still so warm out.
Image

Still looking a little ‘happy’ I think he might finally be off for a kip now too
Image

Ralphie. Cheeky monkey. He slept for a bit, then got up again. Then went back to sleep and is now up again.
Who was it said it’s hard to get a picture of a yawn? ….Kyle …… hmmm.
Image

Blowing bubbles
Image

Giving kisses. He loves kisses. Even if it is the camera. He’s ssspecial.
Image

So that might be it for a while! I’m hoping they’ll all have a nap now and we can go to NZ as planned in a couple of weeks.

And if I can indulge for a minute. These are my other two.
This is Diesel. He’s a 12 and ½ year old blue heeler. He’s been blind for just over two years, has just been diagnosed with cushings disease and a heart murmur and is way past his prime …. But in this picture he looks like the stud he was in bygone years. My best mate.
Image

And this is Jack. He has kidney disease and fat lumps that can’t be removed because he can’t go under anesthetic because of the kidney disease. He’s 10 and a half and the sweetest boy you could ever want to meet.

I could probably do with a cure for over indulgence. But then life wouldn't be as much fun!

How are your Colin babies doing? Did they get nice and plump over summer? Would love to see some pics of his siblings. I'd imagine they'd be fast asleep now but? A mate of mine in Melb said it hasn't been over 15C for weeks. It's still like spring up here, but is a bit chilly in the mornings now. Ralphie is still coming out for a couple of hours a day but I've not fed him in weeks, except for the occasional bug and grub.

The Ralphie shots are so crisp and clear....great job. I love the empty-headed Santos....It'd be hilarious to watch him and Eug walk around together. :hehe:

It's funny you should mention that. Conor once quipped that anyone could pick that Santos was one of my kids because of his blue eyes and vacant expression

So in retaliation I shaved a racing stripe into his chest hair when he got mulleted one night.
He soon learnt that said vacant expression hides a hideously twisted brain :D

Yeah Lisa,

been asleep for a month now. You'll have to wait for Spring for pics.

Nope they didn't fatten up all that much. One inparticular is a very picky eater except when snails are offered.

Thanks Leigh mate, but JD does a bang up job for us when we travel. His kids have a couple of their own lizards so he knows his stuff. And besides, he reads this forum sometimes and I work with him so I have to say nice things about him!

Just for the offer but, you can have another pic! He was playing 'Where's Ralphie?' this morning
Image

Yeah Rich, Diesel has arthritis too. Too many years spent chasing tennis balls! He's way past his prime no doubt, and having a blind dog is trying at the best of times, but I can't picture the future without him. I got him from the pound when he was 6 weeks old.

Your poor skink sitter! Getting hauled over the coals, and it turns out to just be Santos changing his evening wear. :nono:

The dogs are gorgeous. Our old girl, Angel, is over 13 now. She has fatty lumps too, about five, I think, at last count. They don't seem to bother her, so we've never considered the trauma (and the cost) of having them removed. We just check them regularly to make sure they're not oddly shaped, hard, tender, or growing rapidly.

Hi Ruth! we went by Kurri Kurri last Friday on the way home from QLD. Took nearly 3 days to drive from Noosa, it was just bucketing down all the way and just got worse and worse the further south we got. And my car's got a rag top. ....That leaks! It was one wet trip. That was some wicked rain you got. Can you get some sent to Warragamba?

Jacky only has two lumps. But it's where they are that is the problem. One is near his heart, and that was the first one discovered, and it grew at a rapid rate. It's close to 10cm. So that one was going to get taken out, but when they did the tests prior to putting him under, they discovered that he has kidney disease. He's now on science diet k/d and his kidney function is quite good.

But then, one has since developed down where he used to have balls. And that's a problem because that's a bad spot to have one. But it's only at 4cm and has not grown for a while. So now we just wait and see if it becomes large enough to become a problem, and if so then look at what can be done to remove it.

He's quite a bit lopsided now. The one near his heart makes him look like he has boobs, and the 'new' one ball thing ...... he looks a bit like he's going through a sex change

Angel's largest one, which she's had for at least half her life, is right at the lowest point of her ribcage. It's about 6cm in diameter, and pretty much circular, soft and fairly squishy. It looks like she has a golfball tucked under her skin. At least three vets have checked it out, and said it's a fat lump, and it hasn't changed its size.

She's had a few more grow in the last few years, all around her rib cage, but all are fairly soft, regular in shape and have "mobility", so they all seem to be fatty lumps too. If one of them eventually turns out to be cancerous, well, she's going to die of something. She's nearly died of paralysis tick, pneumonia, gastroenteritis and some weird partial paralysis thing since we got her four years ago. Eventually, something'll stick. She is 13, after all.

Holy crap, Lisa! Those are some of the best Ralphie shots ever!!!! :cloud9:

I sure wish I could go on Holiday every other week like SOME people I know... :lazy: :hehe:

I hope you didn't boil the skinksitter alive; your mistake was this: Not calling your mate Kyle Weiss and flying him down for a professional skinksit. :lounge: :hehe:
