My new Bluey!!

Well after a long time of research and thinking and planning and saving my hard earned pennines my BTS finally got to come home with me. My local pet store carries exotics and all sorts of other rare creatres so I have been lucky enough to watch this little one grow up.

She's sleeping right now but I want to try and post some more pics when she wakes up and starts moving around.

I forgot what kind they told me its the excitement has made me forget, what do you guys think?

And I moved that cord so she can't get to it. I was just checking her basking temps to double check all is well!

I can't remember just too much info in my head right now to remember what they told me. Their store isn't far at all so I'll stop by real soon and ask.

Interestingly, has anyone ever used a heat rock? I have read nothing good about them, but I have no personal experience with them, or any personal contacts that have used them. I wonder if the new ones on the market actually work and don't overheat like the warnings online all preach.

Mate dont use one, I had one that got so hot it split in half, unless you can set up a good thermostat linked directly to the heat of the rock , dont bother, people go on about heat mats, but you can touch them switched on without getting a burn, so I'd say use these if you need to

No, I'm not saying I would use one, I have read too many horror stories. Just wondering about the new ones, that claim to be thermostatically controlled and without hotspots.

I've never used one either, but the only thing that keeps me FROM using them is the fact that it's electrical. I don't think I'd use anything electrical in a small tank with a big water bowl nearby.... Of course that, and I've read the same horror stories.

It's not just having the cord near water that distrubs me. I'd be afraid that one of my blueys would try to eat the cord and end up electrocuted.

I wouldn't use a heat source that is inside the tank. Too many horror stories. One thing that I plan to do is take my Dremel tool and make the wire and probe be built in/flush into the hideaway. This way she can't get to it and its a much cleaner installation.
