Dude, don't stress! It's dead skin that will eventually come out.

Just remember, In the wild they don't have caring humans to help them shed, It will come out when it's ready - the only time you should help it off if when it's obviously loose but still sitting in the ear - and even then it's not needed.

Sometimes Drew, people think that the 2 or 3 little flappy things in their ears are old skin, but they are meant to be there. Like what you can see in your 3rd shot. Not sure if this is what you're referring to? I only ask because they've fooled people in the past and it's really hard to see ear bags in their ears and they usually come out just fine, one of the easier bits that they shed. I really wouldn't go anywhere near the ears with any kind of object. (My hands shake too much!)

anyway, hope it goes well, the new enclosure is here. will give it a few more days to let the stain smell come off. but looks good to me, i personally designed it. well, i hope the next enclosure will be more"perfect"

another question: he doesnt seem so interested in the beef cat food i have been giving him/her. he is eating but not too much. he looks healthy thought. should i try the baby canned food? gerber?

In another thread they say that blues dont like beef, I've given mine a few small chunks from a lean steak, it could be alright if not done all the time but I think there's too high a fat level for regular feeding, also chicken/white meat is cheaper

Hmm...

How do you know for sure the ear plugs are still inside? There always seems to be a "film" or something that looks like plugs that are always inside the ear.

Probably wouldn't warrant a vet visit -- but could further on down the road if multiple shed plugs were stuck in the ear.

i have been lookng inside his/her ears since he/she arrives and as i posted i was concrened that it was an old skin the one i was seeing..
indeed it was.. i know i should have left it alone but i am worried that he/she might be irritated..
so i did a liittle massaging.. got a thin tweezers < i know this is dangerous.. sorry guys> kinda trying to hld that thin loose skin outside his ears and violA! it came out!
i checked again in the ear and saw the natural film you guys were talking about.
i did the same thing with the other ear. dont worry i did not stick the tweezers inside its ear.

I tweeze the dead skin out too - just gotta be careful.
I tried doing it to chopper the other night but it wasn't fully ready to come out, so i left it.

I've never had to use tweezers -- yikes.....I just imagine one thrashing. You ever tried to hand-feed a bluey and he thrashed his head back and forth in disapproval?

yeah - generally when i get the tweezers out I grip his head so he can't move it - but when you're near their ears they generally close their eyes and hope for the best. it's funny you see them hoping you won't hurt them, then once it's out - you see how pumped they are for doing it for them - it's almost like they thank you.

Mine thinks tweezers are a sign of food as my g'd hates and refuses to touch any live feeders, the silly cow threw out a near full tub of pupea stage worms coz they grossed her out, even though she was down stairs and he's up stairs in a shut room, I'm dead when she finds the 4 or5 roaches that legged it.
