Differences in Toe Length?

First of all, I'm back (again...) A warm "Welcome" to the new members!

I just received my September 2007 REPTILES issue and read the article about Rankin's Dragons. In one section, they mentioned that mature female and male Rankins' can be sexed by looking at the length of their toes and shape of the nails. While I know that Blueys and Dragons are two very different animals, I was wondering if this in any way could be apply to skinks?

When it comes to my two skinks, Madeira and Chimera, they have VERY different feet. Chimera has shorter toes, though his toenails are thicker and more sharply curved (similar to a cat's nails). Madeira however has very long toes and thinner nails that grow more straight out (closer to a dog's).

Has anybody else with confirmed males and females noticed any difference in toe or nail shape? Or is this simply a case of individual differences?

Any thoughts from people who actually know what they're talking about?

Hmm I have noticed the the Tanimbars seem to have tiny little feet, but I haven't noticed anything that differentiates male and female.
