walking like an alligator?

Postby Felmarg » Mon Jul 16, 2007 8:11 am

I took my baby bluey out of his tank, and he was waking not unlike an alligator, walking only on his legs with his belly lifted so it did not drag against the carpet. I checked his belly and it looks normal. He just shed, could that make him walk funny?

I figured it was normal, Quigs does it occasionaly not often though, expecially when he's on cement, or carpet or other rough or tickley surfaces.

You're guy sounds find, just not as lazy as most of mine. They don't use their back legs unless they have to.

alligator walking

Pele' walks like that when he is trying to see something up high. He usually does it when he is cruising through the grass looking at the butterflies or trying to find me. 8)

Heh, they do it occasionally; one of the funniest things BTS do I think.

Interesting!

When I've seen them do that it is usually during mating season and it is always the males that do it.

I've come to believe that it is a male dominance display.

Any of the more experienced keepers with an opinion?
Geoff.

Mine does it,
1= when he's trying to see over the edge of the tank
2=when I mess up the substrate, until he works his furrows back into it.
MMMmmmmm... Something???????

Eugene used to do it quite a bit...that's encouraging if you see it as a mating trait. :)
