Getting it right...

Postby mom22wins » Wed Jul 18, 2007 8:30 am

If you don't know, I will be getting my first baby BTS probably some time next week and I've been experimenting with different lights and substrates, etc. I think I finally got it right. :spot:

Okay, I went to home depot (following someone's advice on here) and purchased the clamp on lamps I needed for the flourescent bulb and the basking bulb I had. The temps in the terrarium are much better now.The cooler side is around 80 degrees and I'm waiting to get my pointer temp gauge to get an accurate temp on the basking spot but the rock feels nice and warm. :)

I put Carefresh in and I feel better that she'll have something to burrow in so she'll feel secure in her new home.

Now I just have to get it straight what to feed her when she first comes home. I don't want to shock her system with something completely different than what Zach's been feeding her. BTW, Zach, what's the diet you have the babies on at present? What times of day do you feed?

I'm so excited now! I am all set. I feel like an adoptive parent that has painted and fixed up the nursery and is awaiting her baby!

Excellent...those temp guns are a must!

Right now, they're eating spot's stew with (very) chopped collards, and a little kiwi. Feel free to change it up though so they don't get hooked on one thing. The dogfood is preferred as it seems to be meatier than the catfood.

Nice setup!!

I have to agree, the infrared temp-guns are very handy.

Poor Zach! He gets all of us excited mommies who adopt his skinky babies! I've already quizzed him over all the things you just did! After dealing with this group of owners, he may regret the "unlimited advice" clause! You can tell he really cares or he would've already lost it with me!

Yeah, these two ladies called me conference call last night at 3AM just to ask if the babies had eaten good that day! :whatever: :hehe:
