If only that snail know that taunting Slurpy could be bad for it's health. :D

Wow, Zach, I've been out for a while, I come back and see that you've really developed Slurpy's killer instinct. I guess since he gets his woman handed to him every year, he's just become complacent!

Zach,
What kind of snail is that, and was it wild caught, or store bought?
I'd like to try snails with Chuffer, but I don't trust the ones I see around to not have pesticides, adn I don't know what kinds to buy for him!
Help? (Also, whats your experience with parasites? I asked earlier, but nobody seems to have experience with what my poor guy has. so any experts advice or experience?)
(love the pics, by the way! Thanks for the giggle!)

The shells are full of calcium and provide a good jaw workout....and they usually eat it, but spitting out some pieces is not uncommon. Certainly encourage them to eat the shell; don't take it away once they smash it up.

You can get them in the wild if you're sure they haven't been exposed to chemicals....if you live in a rural area, it's better.

Not necessarily! Rural areas are often treated with pesticides to maximize crop production!! Snails in rural areas should be detoxed the same as in urban areas.

I guess I should be more clear -- I mean areas out in the middle of nowhere like my pop....that's where I got these. I'm not sure I'd feed local snails even if they were detoxed! It's always a good idea to detox no matter what though, definitely, because you do never know.
