She looks great! And, as someone pointed out, BIG! My Sammy is the runt so I'm not sure how long it will be until she is that size!

Hehe, I love talking about the fact that our very first runt ended up being the biggest of the whole litter in two years.

Got to love the underdog. I have always loved having runts as pets. To stay on topic though charlotte is beautiful.

Thanks for rotating my picture Zach! If you need a picture of bluey climbing, it is yours! I wouldn't have believed it unless I had seen it. Those short little legs climbing his water bowl and working up the glass.
Thanks for all the compliments from everyone. We adore her and we are only getting more attached to her each day. I took her outside today and she did great. I thought she might freak (as Pele' did the first time) but she just explored with her little blue tongue going a million miles per hour. I'm terrified I may lose her in the grass though. No pen for her yet.
She is shedding and the color underneath is just amazing. It flakes more than my older bluey's sheds. I can't wait til she is done. My son actually said poor Pele' was ugly compared to her. That means I'll have to take some new pictures in the near future. I may get alot of practice posting pictures.

Charlotte ate her first live prey today!!!! I am raising roaches (crazy for someone in Texas to pay money for these---let alone raise them!) and I had some tiny nymphs that just molted. I held one up to Charlotte and she knew just what to do with him! She has been patrolling her enclosure ever since! As a matter of fact, she spends less time hiding than Pele' did when I got him. I don't think she likes the top opening of her tank though. She always looks a little scared when I reach in. The tank is a 40 gallon with half glass and half screen. It is on a dresser and I have to climb a step ladder to reach down into it. (It must be high so the dog and kids don't "visit.") I wish I had a front opening one. I want to build a multiunit one so bad.
We went to the Austin Zoo today and they had a Northern. They were just feeding him mealworms. I offered to "adopt him" like they do at the Houston Zoo. (You pay money to support that animal.) They promptly deemed me crazy. I will talk with his caretaker and see if I can buy him some nicer hides and stuff. I figure this will keep me from aquiring another one right now. I wish I lived closer. It would give me an excuse to volunteer in that area.

We haven't tried feeding live prey to the babies yet....they would go crazy against each other! We already had to separate the Pearl babies because they started getting nippy with each other.

Everyone says that but I have a front opening tank and although it is easier to get in and out, Sammy gets scared when I open it too. I can understand them not liking to be "swooped down" on from above though.

I hate my top opening tank. I would encourage anyone to get a front opening or slider-front.

I love the front opening cages and definetly recommend them but both Frankie and Spike are in top opening cages and don't blink an eye about being taken out.

Bluetonguemad---It does look like a spider! She looked so little and scared in that bag. I was glad Zach put the yarn in there for her. She was all snuggled up in it! It was so sweet.
I still would like a front opening tank. If I ever get/make a multi unit, it will have sliding fronts. Charlotte is doing fine with the over the head movements now. I guess I should fess up that she comes to me now and looks for treat. Pele' does the same. If I'm cutting up fruit for my 2 legged critters, I go give my bluey kids the same. Every time I walk by, they are very eager to see me. (Who says bribery doesn't have its place?) Pele' is very gentle eating from my hands and never misses the food. The one time he accidentally got my finger, he gave me an embarassed look and it hasn't happened since. Charlotte is getting better each day. She seems very intelligent. I think she already recognizes me but she even lets my son scoop her up now. Her little tongue still goes a million miles per hour but she seems less nervous and more trusting each day. I don't mean to sound disappointed (because I'm not!) but I thought taming a baby would take alot more time and effort. Oh, I just love her!

This is the first year we've ever tried the yarn; people usually use crumpled up newspaper but I kept thinking about the strong scent and potential for eye rubs/cuts.
