For the most part, my skinks are easy to spot clean after. Sprout poos in his water, not the substrate, so as long as I keep his water clean, his tank is poo free. Mamma and Styx poo on their basking rock
but that, too, is an easy fix. Kei Kei and Nona tend to hide their poo and I may or may not find it before it is dried up and smell free and covered with substrate, so even though they are there, you can't see them.- Dragontears

Certain animals can terminate pregnancy by either resorbtion (essentially the body breaks down the tissue) or abortion of the fetus. When I worked in the vitamin D lab, our mice would resorb fetuses if they couldn't support the pregnancy. I'm not certain, but I think that animals can even selectively resorb a dead fetus and maintain the live ones. I was wondering if this has been documented in reptiles. After Jenn's Easterns mated, she said the female gained weight, only to lose it again. Now you have said that Moe is losing and gaining weight.
I found one article that tries to address this issue. Sounds like it's a controversial issue in the reptile world. The article is kinda hard to read, but still interesting (for a science dork). http://www.bio.usyd.edu.au/staff/thommo/pdfs/2003/120BlackburnWeaberStewartThompson2003.pdf
