I want to fall in love w/one there! ;)

I did email Andrew... and I got a # but I feel odd calling him... I guess.. I'll call him :)

He sounds awesome! ;) and his site is really cool.

oK... youguys... I just want to make sure I do everything right....(lighting is confusing me a little)

so.. I went to home depot last night and bought a very large round silver light holder w/ a clamp.

Now... I bought a light bulb 200 wts... and its incandescent light... (regular light) Do I need a heat lamp bulb instead??? I don't know.

My tank is 36 x 16 x 17 ...
I know that this tank is maybe too tall... but I got a taller climbable rock so that the basking area... is closer to the heat... I will be checking all my temperatures this afternooon... cause I got to run to work .....

I live in West Hollywood... so its very hot over hear and my home is always pretty warm, we keep air condioter on in the living room area... but I can manage all the temps in there accordingly.... 100 on one side and 80 on the other lowering to 70 at night right???

OH... is there any other light that I am missing????

I am confused! :)

OH.. ps... I will buy a wider tank rather than this taller one I currently have... but I think this one will be ok for the baby for now. Dont' you?

GOTTA RUN TO WORK!! ;)

Later on I would probably go more width/length then hieght. While some blueys love to climb (like LittleFoot) they are ground dwellers by nature and the more room to burrow the better, imo.

You'll need one heat light for basking and a uv light as well.

Make sure you have a fairly large water dish since most blueys love a good soak now and then.

You don't need to really worry about buying an expensive food dish. A lot of people just use paper plates, or in my case, the base of a flower pot.

Do you know what type of substrate you are using yet?
Do you have a hide for him?

Good luck in your search this week-end :)

your regular incandescent light bulb will take the place of a heat lamp bulb you can buy at petstores. I would be worried a little with a 200 watt bulb. I wouldnt think you would need that high of a wattage bulb. But def check your temps before you get a little guy. What are you using to check the temperature? Heat gun? Digital thermometer? etc.

Definately give Andrew a call. He would be more than happy to help you out.

Um... i think that bulb might be too hot. Try for a 75 watt basking bulb. It makes a tighter beam for a basking spot. I use a 50 watt and my cages are 13 inches high. My temps can get up to 110 if its hotter than 80 in my place. So I think a 200 watt would be burning. Definately get a digital thermometer(with a probe) or temp gun. If possible grab a 5.0 or 8.0 uvb bulb that will span the length of your cage so like a 30". Get it at the show it'll probibly cheaper. I get all my UVB bulbs from local shows. I get the 10.0 ones which are usually $40 at petstores are 19 there(I try to get one each show... even though i dont need it, just in case lol).

Good luck with the new addition!

200 watt bulb ... yikes ... I agree probably too hot. You might want to get a hygrometer so you can keep track of the humidity in the enclosure. Digital is the most accurate. Andrew has some awesome babies on his site. If you buy from him you will have good breeder support for your new baby. Good luck with your little darling. :ohyes:

cool thanks! my friend works at Radio Shak and she's getting a digi thermometer for me today! :)

I will try all the diff. light bulbs to see which one give me the right temp!

SO IN BRIEF:

FOR LIGHT:

1. HEAT BULB
2. UV LIGHT BULB

CORRECT???

TWO TYPES OF LIGHT...HEAT AND SUN!

RIGHT?????/

PLS TELL ME..

I SEE SOME OF YOU HAVE MORE LIGHTBULBS THAN 2.......

I want it to be perfect! :)

Yes... Aspen is it... also.. a kick ass basking rock... fake plants.... climbing a borrowing is going to be a very easy thing to do for him in the terranium once I am all done with... it. I am a decorator @ heart so I will make it all perfect for him w/a large water bowl too of course!

Also remember, don't settle on a wild caught! They will all be cutesy and cuddly, but you want to make sure you get a captive bred BTS -- remember that regardless of what you are told, nearly if not ALL IJ's and Indo's are wild from these shows. Get one from Andrew if you can!

also remember that it is a common trick to sell seemingly calm and friendly blueys at a show by keeping them cool. Most places will not have heat and light on their blueys and any bluey will appear nice if he/she is too chilled to care.
