what do YOU do?

Postby laurnerox1 » Sun Sep 09, 2007 2:34 pm

I was just wondering, what do y'all do when you let your blueys out of their tank? I make sure Alfie is out everday, but he's usually just sittin next to me on the couch/ottoman and let him walk around. but he's not very curious. sometimes he'll curl up and try to attack his tail, but that's just about as entertaining as it gets. I haven't let him have free roam of my appartment, its too big and too much stuff for him to get into.

So yah, what do your blueys do? :)

ok and here's a pic just because i know y'all love 'em so much.

LittleFoot usually chills on the couch with me at night, but he'll roam my kids rooms when when they are playing game cube..he loves getting into my daughter's doll house. He gets very closely supervised when we go to the park...he usually just ambles around, but every once in a while he will take off or he'll look like he wants to eat Tinkerbell.

I don't let Sammy out and about in the house unless she's in my lap or behind her playpen fence. I'm just too afraid she'll get under something and I won't be able to get her out!

We don't let our skinks have roam of the apartment anymore because we have a room mate now, but we do let him run around our bed or bedroom while we're gone. The bed is right up on the window sill and he loves sitting there looking outside. When we're there, we open up the window and the fresh air comes through the screen. Otherwise, we just take him out in the grass while we have lunch on the patio and listen to tunes....

Im too scared to let mine roam around too. I'd worry i wouldn't be able to find them and if i did i wouldn't be able to get them out of where they were hiding!

where to go?

Postby aggiegirl » Sun Sep 09, 2007 7:29 pm

I have kids and our house is littered with Polly Pockets and other small, foreign bodies. Sometimes, I let the blueys roam the master bath because it is less cluttered and they can't get under any furniture. Pele' lounges on my lap while I type on the computer. I take both blueys out when I wait for the kids' bus. They roam the yard while I read or garden. I have to watch them though---my younger bluey tries to eat everything. Once the kids are home, I have to watch the blueys more carefully. Little feet and skinkies hiding in the grass are a bad combo. You'll notice that once your guy is accustomed to going out that he'll spend more time basking and exploring---less time hiding. Mine also potty outside pretty consistantly. Less cage cleaning is always a bonus!

Inside, mine free range in an extremely messy spare bedroom. Lots of things for them to explore, and cupboards and drawers for them to get into, but behind bookcases and cupboards is blocked off because it's amazing how small a place they can get into.

Mine also free range outside under supervision but I live in the bush where it's quiet and there's nowhere they could run to that I couldn't get to them faster. I would suggest that if you live in a busy or noisy area to construct an outdoor area for them.

If you have them on the lounge, I wouldn't leave them too long on their own. Their sense of height sucks or they have a superman complex or something and can hit the ground easily.

Chuff gets outside time every day that its sunny and warm enough, which has been every day lately.
He gets to roam the house out in the country, because its big and there's not much he can hide under. (he did sneak away from Tony last week, and it was pretty funny to find him peeking out form under the bookcase)
at my smaller place in the city, he roams the couch and crashes out while we're watching telly, or I'll let him play on the floor supervised because its so cluttered.

Tattoo gets to explore the chair and couch in the living room and crawl around on the carpet. I would not let her go unsupervised ... too many things to crawl under. She likes to hang out on my shoulder or in my lap and watch telly in the evenings. Jeez ... bad mommy for allowing my kid to watch the tube.

I wish I could be comfortable enough to trust that Sammy wouldn't get lost or hurt. It seems like alot of you really give your babies some freedom. I'm just too afraid I guess.

Zach, you have several blueys. Who is it that you're referring to when you said:

but we do let him run around our bed or bedroom while we're gone. The bed is right up on the window sill and he loves sitting there looking outside. When we're there, we open up the window and the fresh air comes through the screen. Otherwise, we just take him out in the grass while we have lunch on the patio and listen to tunes

Blue hasn't been out in the garden as much this year as the weather's been crap . We have to make sure the cats out and all doors and windows are shut {hes a sneaky, untrustworthy barsteward}so Blue can have a safeish walk about, funny when he tries to bulldose his way under my leg when I'm on the settee, normally he'll climb/scratch his way up onto my shoulder for a birds eye room view

I'm laying in bed right now, and Pryce is out here with me, exploring and hiding and pooing on my clean sheets. His other places to wander are my bathroom, where he eats and gets an occasional soak to help his toes, and outdoors, where he wanders through the grass and tries to taste everything. He still hides a lot though, so I'm always sure keep an eye to see where he's hiding.

My guys use to get free roam of the living room and computer room but then I got Phoenix, at the beginning of the summer. He is way to interested in them!!!! In the summer it wasn't a big deal because they spent a lot of time in their out door pit.

yeah i just dont like him poo-ing everywhere. i'll let him on my lap but keep him on a towel/paper towel until he poos, then im not so worried about it and i let him roam around more. but sometimes he doesn't poo when i have him out! so i feel bad for not letting him roam as much. oh well maybe i should just get a really good carpet cleaner and let him have more roaming time...lol

Last night, Chuff decided to be somewhat nocturnal, so he roamed and wandered a bit, and then we hung out on the couch, watched some telly shared a snack of hard boiled egg and mango. Yum! :D
