COLUMBUS, Ohio - Animal expert Jack Hanna and an 11-month-old flamingo became trapped while trying to squeeze through a security turnstile at an Ohio airport. It took firefighters to finally get the flamingo out.

Hanna, the director emeritus of the Columbus Zoo and a frequent guest on nationally televised talk shows, was returning from a zoo fundraiser with a mongoose, a small leopard and the flamingo. Three other people were with them.

The entourage arrived at the Ohio State University Airport just after midnight Sunday to find the terminal closed. The only way to leave the tarmac was through a 10-foot-tall metal turnstile with several horizontal bars — not the easiest exit to squeeze through when you are traveling with boxed-up animals, Hanna said.
"I never thought about the crate being square and the turnstile being round," he said.

Hanna, 60, pushed the flamingo's 2-foot-by-3-foot compartment into the turnstile, then continued pushing while straddling the crate.

"I was stuck like a worm. My eyes were as big as grapefruits," he said. "I can't describe the feeling in my stomach. I can't move up or down. The bars are on your face."

Hanna said he eventually squirmed free, leaving the flamingo still wedged inside and everyone else trapped on the tarmac. He then walked to a nearby fire station for help. It took three firefighters to hoist the flamingo's crate up and out of the turnstile, he said.

Columbus fire department logs show the firefighters arrived at the airport at 12:30 a.m. for a "flamingo rescue," spokeswoman Kelly McGuire said.

Hanna joked that the next time he flies through the airport, the biggest animal he will bring is a gerbil.

Well, I found another great deal on 3 crested geckos that I couldnt pass up. They just got here this morning. I am having a hard time telling who is who after taking the pics. The batteries in the camera died half way through taking pics as well. So in about half the pics, they are all fired up from the trip. The others are when they arent fired up. Its amazing how much they can change in color. But anyway here they are!







Of course the last guy i didnt get pics when he was fired up, but he is very similar in color to the first guy I posted.




And after taking those pics, I found one of my other hatchlings sleeping. I couldnt help but take his picture.

Yere Mate spring the phone is going hot and the door bell is ringing 24/7 .Some people say oh hello i droped a magpie bird off about 6 weeks ago , ive been feeding it for about 18 years .I wonder if its ready to pick up yet ??? ...hahahah OMG ! Um right erm dont you mark them with a ring ?.. Oh brad they mean well but every maggy looks cloned identical. Ill have a look through the paper work its done well to be 18 ( HEY ) It might be down the back in the big aviary... Other people find tiny doves that fall from the nest after a week . And come back 6 months later to see them ...If they give a donation alot of people i or my wife take them down the back .But its thick with tiger snakes and dugite,s . and they get bitten and frighten the bejesus out of the frog mouths and owls that are asleep
But yere mate ive been really busy ..Karen is very very sick herself

The two smallest guys that i just got had stuck shed, so i was letting them play on wet papertowels and they both fired up very nicely. THis is why I had to get these little guys.

Brad---It is amazing what a color change they undergo when fired up. Piper goes from a light olive color to buckskin but that is nothing compared with the change in your new guys!
