I have this movie favorited on youtube, I love it. I watch it all the time lol... its an L. parahybana molting sped up, its really awesome.

I've seen a similar video, but not that particular one. I love watching molts.

molting? Yeah, most tarantulas will molt upside-down. A couple of mine molt on their sides, but I think they are the exception.

plethodons are a variety of salamanders. When I did a collecting trip in NC we collected Desmognathus and Plethodons. That was a fantastic job!

The Ozarks aren't in TN though -- the Appalachians are!

yep. and a few petstore employees...one of the ladies I know would take the 'dead' tarantulas off of the local pet store for a dollar claiming to want to dissect them. They told her that when they flip on their back, there was nothing to do but to flush them...she got many many Ts this way. :lol:

Ah, I had Where the Red Fern Grows on my mind. I meant Appalachians lol.

Plethodontids are members of the family Plenthontidae, the lungless salamanders, including the duskies, redbacks, etc.

I noticed that if you view them in firefox they are fast like bats (how they're supposed to look), but view them in IE and they are slow like crows or vultures.... :whatever:

DragonTears, your spiders are totally Kick -Ass. I'm glad the mating went with minimal mishaps!
The Ozarks are down in Missouri/Arkansas, and I know I should google this but what is a Hellbender?
I thought the bats were crows, Zach! (Which works for me, because I love crows, unless they're attacking baby Shinglebacks or Blueys!)

Hellbenders are the largest salamanders in Pennsylvania (about 2 ft I think). I'm sure they're in other parts of the country too, but I know they're here. They are aquatic and live in rivers and streams where the water is wide and has large stones to live under.

When they are threatened they shoot slime out of their skin. It's pretty nasty.

That is Awesome! Up here in the NW we have the highly toxic Oregon Newts. (brown things with orange bellies)

I wonder if Hellbenders live in Connecticut? ( Where I grew up) I never saw any, but I used to catch all manner of frogs and small turtles.

I am into snakes and lizards but salamanders are too slimey for me and I am trying to conquer my fear of spiders they are just harder than snakes. I was deathly afraid of snakes growing up. I just decided it was time to get past it and bought my baby corn which i still have and loved every minute of it (after the 6 month adjustment period, and watching brian hold him alot) its been 5 yrs and he has never even acted like he wants to bite anyone.

Kitty Cat Pictures!!!!!! I didn't have any new skinks pictures so I couldn't think of a way to make these fit into an on topic thread.

This is Phoenix with his girl friend. Her and her sister are two of my foster kitties.

Here they are cuddle up again!

My kitty Benny is forever trying to figure out what happened to his nice quiet existence and where all these crazy kittens keep coming from.

This was put on my dinning room table to look pretty for Halloween. At first, I was just finding lots of pumpkin cadles all over the place and then they spilled the whole thing!!!! It still sits on the table but it's empty.
