I think it's an Irian Jaya but I'm not sure!

It has a bright orange belly

Also it is around 17". How old is this lizard?

looks like an IJ, as for the age some BTS can grow up to that length within less than a year old.

he looks like a sibling of my Boris.
great looking bts, love his markings.

Thanks for your replies I'm looking foward to having a BTS. I've only had leopard geckos and bearded dragons in the past. It's hard to tell the gender so I still don't have a name for the poor thing. The wide triangular head seems to resemble a male but I'm not sure!

It looks like an IJ to me as well.

I wouldn't go by the head shape to determine gender. The best way is if you see sperm plugs.

I'll cast my vote as IJ too. Very pretty. Welcome to the forum! I suggest naming it something non-gender specific, that way it doesn't matter either way. Make sure to read the caresheet lots, and post many, many pictures ^.^

:welcome: Sure looks IJ to me,you must read the caresheet and food chart, you'll find most answers to most questions there,dont worry about gender relative names,they dont get upset if your wrong hee heee,he does look in good condition, and another law :ryo: , stick around its a great place :thumbs:

I'd estimate his age between 1 and 3...
