cactus fruit?

I saw cactus fruit in the pet store and wondered how it would do for the blues, it said for turtles and other reptiles and i figure my uros can have it seeing as they are from the desert but i am not sure about the blues. Has anyone tried these?

I've done cactus pad and cactus pear from the grocery store. My guys chow down on it.

I wouldn't worry all that much about trying new stuff. A varied diet doesn't mean something new all the time - just as long as they get enough nutrients.

EDIT - I know that was kinda off the Q - but what's wrong with the normal food you use?

When I was at the NARBC two weeks ago, I picked up a few cacti pads. My guys LOVE the stuff. I like trying different foods to see how they respond. Most often, they turn their noses, but not with the cactus!

I'm stil waiting to find cactus leaves around here. Safeway says they get it occasionally. The caresheet says it's super healthy.

well blue is extremely picky when it comes to fruit he wont touch hardly anything maybe papaya but he hates banana and alot of others just saw it and thought maybe he would enjoy it. anyways when i am at a restaurant i enjoy sampling desserts i figure they would too.

It never hurts to try new things with a picky Bluey: Just stay away from Avocado and rhubarb and any other No-Nos, (on the care sheet).
Have you tried mango and hard boiled egg? Chuffers is pretty picky and he loves those. He also loves turkey burger, and he goes crazy for the sweet yellow yakima cherries when they're in season.
I have had to sneak cactus into him, as he didn't seem interested. But we'll try again in the spring/summer when he has more appetite.

Prickly pear cactus fruits are a huge hit here for everyone, the uros, torts, and LittleFoot. They also love cactus pads. Just a minor warning, if you are using red prickly pear fruit the juice can stain.

I grow a few cacti myself so I can feed Zaphod sometimes but I can't find it sold in stores.
