Baylee has his lady. She (being a good girl) is snoozing away in the hide right next to his. Every once is a while she sticks her head out and gives him a wink but then it's back to bed she goes.

Hi Baylee! Mel FINALLY started to brumate. I moved him to a cooler part of the apartment and shortened his artificial day to about 2 hrs.

It's really interesting reading about your brumating experiences. Maya has never brumated in 3 years or even offered too. I don't plan to breed him so I don't care either way. But I am intruiged by the variety of brumating behaviour that's out there.

It is amazing how different they are. I've only seen Spike twice since the end of Oct but I've seen Baylee pretty much everyday. I think I have to just stop stressing about Baylee. I'm really beginning to think that he just brumates but laying still but still being up everyday. It's hard though because of all my guys the keis are the one that I would love to breed the most!

Just remember, Baylee is from an area where the temperature is fairly constant, and he will experience dry and wet seasons, instead of hot/cold seasons.

I think this is why you can breed IJ without cooling, but to breed an eastern, a temperate species, you need to get them down to about 50.
