One disadvantage is a BTS could climb out of it.

You could make up some kind of screened cover/lid for it and I'm sure it would be just fine.
The Humane Society took Michael Vick's pit bulls, asked for public money to help them, then decided it would be best to kill them... adopt from No Kill shelters http://www.roas.petfinder.com

•Blue - Northern BTS
•Severus - Silver Tanny
•Cheyenne - Pit Bull/Lab
•Sunny - Pit Bull/Beagle
•Gryffin & Tucker - Kitties

for what purpose?

Why do you want the table for? Is it for exercise outside of your primary enclosure? There are some neat plans/pictures of forum members pens on this site. PM me if you can't find them. I was checking out stuff for chuckwallas (another large lizard) and found plans for a neat outside exercise pen. Check out Rio Bravo Reptile's Outdoor outdoor enclosures as the same basic plan would work for blueys.
Amazingly enough, blueys can climb much better than those squatty little legs might suggest. I think Zach has a picture of one climbing screen on the caresheet. My own skink will stand on her tail to climb the glass of her tank! Safety first! (Do I sound like a mom? ) I'd like to think our blueys are smarter than torts as well. (But then again, I am a bit biased...)

I'm not sure the exact point of this. Is there glass on top so you can use it as a neat table? If so, keep in mind that BTS don't like things above their heads, so you eating on top of them will not be good.

A tortoise table is just the name for a large indoor enclosure. I don't know why they call it a table.
