Postby Chizem » Tue Jan 15, 2008 1:55 am

Well today i just received my first baby blue tongue skink from my best mate. My mate has ten of them (he had to cut them out of there sacks because the mother was dying of birth) two of my friends took one as well. Sorry i don't have any photos right now as baby Rex is sleeping.

I'll keep you posted. :ohyes:

Yeah i read the caresheet twice. The mother well, she was attacked by a dog she died quickly after the birth, lost lots of blood i think. :(

That sucks. But as it has been said, atleast the babies survived. Was she in the middle of giving birth when she was attacked or before it or after it?

I'm pretty sure it was before she was giving birth because my mate saw little bumps in her stomach, and i think he had to cut the mother open too. Or though i might be wrong.

Ummm hi again. I just have a question, (i don't think i saw this in the care sheet) my baby blue tongue is about 1 month old, so how often should i feed it? Should i feed it every day because its a baby, my mate said i should feed it every two days.

The caresheet says anything up to a year should get fed daily, but every second day wont hurt either. Feed it what it will eat, so long as it doesn't start getting obese.

after trying almost every cat and dog food in the supermarket ive found a couple that he likes, one is tripe and the other beef and liver flavoured, but he is still refusing to eat from a plate or any green veg that isnt liquidised first. still loves cooked tomato and banana and will eat other fruits every now and again but generally only once or twice. new food is scarey so its hard to get him to accept anything new. if i do slip it in his mouth he spits it back at me. he has lovely tabble manners. he will eat butternut squashed mashed in with meat so i give him that sometimes. he is still really picky though. started putting vitamin drops in his water to help.

Well hopefully his eating habits will change as he ages. I used to be fussy with my food when i was younger and now my eating habits have completely changed, just give it time and keep at it.

Dont feed him ANYTHING until he'll eat whats good for him,he wont actually starve himself to death, they do play up and act like spoilt brats,Iknow you feel like a bad owner not feeding him but,its better to be cruel to be kind.
