Update on the clan and new member (non-bluey)

Postby Bird_Brain » Tue Feb 05, 2008 5:30 pm

Well I have finally finished decorating and setting up 2 of the 6 permanent cages.

Cooper's Crib. I guess I would like to get a background on his cage. But other than that I am finished.
Image

Sassy's cage. Somehow it worked out that she is the smallest BTS, yet gets the largest? Is someone playing favorites? No, she was just the most flighty and wanted her cage to have sliding front doors.
Image

The last three are stuck in their temporary cages until Friday when their new cages come in.

Tuck. He is getting ready to shed.
Image

Tybo peeking out to say hello.
Image

Beans was hiding, as usual. She hasnt settled in yet and hasnt eaten or had the sweet temperament that she had at the petstore. Hopefully she will come around soon.

And I know OT, but here is a new critter I just got. I got him for my younger brother as he wants to start breeding Tokays, but I am getting attached to him.
He is darker than usual in the pic as i just let him go in the cage from the box the petstore put him in. Tokays are just so pretty.

LOL. He is all bark and no bite. Literally. I have handled him very, very little, but when I had to, his bark scares the crap out of me.

Thanks guys. No I have not been bitten. The new indo has tried though, but sassy is a sweetie. She gives me problems trying to get her out of the tank, but once she is out, she very rarely hisses (I have to say she is my favorite).

Hahaha, I love Tokays! They are very intimidating when they bark and lunge, aren't they! Like little pitbulls of the lizard world. . .

My room mate had one that chased our 6'4" giant blonde viking friend across the apartment. Now that was a sight!

He would also get horny at around 3AM and start barking for a mate about once a month or so. We'd wake up thinking "What the heck. . . " then realize that it was the lizard looking for a female. . . fun stuff!

Your Bluey-Land looks good! It sounds like everybody is settling in very comfortably ! :D

Looks good! Tokays are gorgeous -- my friend has a pair, they're fun to look at, but they don't play well with fingers....

If I had a dollar for every time I convinced some naive parent not to get a tokay for their 10 year old son......

They are pretty, but I like them at a distance. Glad yours is all bark!

Tokays are pretty. I remember when I was working at Petco there was one loose in the infirmary (likely still is). I went in there one night and something was barking. Freaked me out! They're gorgeous though!

They are gorgeous, but are def. a display pet. Nothing like blueys. But I am happy with just looking at them through the cage

Tokays can be tamed if handled regularly from a small age. They get big and lazy.

The trick is to let them bite you, and then when they stop, put your finger back in their mouth.

It shows them that biting just makes you stick around longer.

Yeah the one cage is from glasscages.com. I am happy with it, I just cant afford to spend $200 each when I need 4 more cages. So the tohers are just from the local petstore.
