Chomper is a chameleon...

Postby Kymbadina » Tue Feb 26, 2008 8:49 pm

Okay, Probably a stupid question. I know..
Chomper is nearing shed time because he has become noticably duller and grouchy, and is spending more and more time in his high humidity box. I know they darken in color before shedding but this is somethign new. He is usually a really golden bright color and now, where it should be more of a yellow it is actually blueish grey..is that normal? because other times when I would see him before a shed he is still warm in tones.
Thanks in advance for reassurance that im not crazy and this is okay. I'll post pictures as soon as he sheds!

My blueys go all sorts of different colours when they are about to shed. I've had the same blotchies go really dark - and then next time they go really milky. I'm not sure why - but they are fine.

Sometimes I notice a change when Pryce is going to shed, other times he remains nearly the same. He's also gone from a grey to an orange before sheds.

I notice the milky white tail first for at least a week, then it spreads up the sides with a dulling grey to the body,it changes every day. I think it depends on the colour underneath, the browns go really dark almost black, I have noticed that the light brown/caramel colour is being slowly lessening and being replaced with white scales in between the darker bands as he grows.
MMMmmmmm... Something???????

Thank you everyone!
I had never seen him turn such cool tones before..HJe has only shed twice but both times his color scheme stayed warm. I cant wait for him to shed :) It's like christmas, he unwraps a new lizard...not to mention I can't wait for this grum phase to end..
