tank in front of a window

Postby wolfheart » Sat Mar 08, 2008 7:28 pm

Is it alright to have a tank in front of a window? the window doesn't get direct sunlight, it won't replace the heat/basking lamps, and it won't replace regular ventures outside- there's just nowhere else to put it. I have my anoles there right now and they love to look outside. In fact, that's what they do for most of the day :sunny:

I don't see any problem with putting a cage in front of a window as long as you watch the temperatures to make sure the outside light (you said no direct light, so that is good) isn't heating up the cage more then it needs to be and that, in the winter, the coolness from outside won't affect the cage too much. If anoles were there and lived, I doubt you should have much of a problem, though. :)

If it's in front of the window it's usually best to have only half in front, the other half under cover of some sort. That way if it does heat up, the BTS can still make an escape.

Yeh i have mine half in front of a window, keeps temps good, and saves me using a basking light often. There is one in there i just dont use it very often in Jaks tank.
