BTS Squeeking

Postby mom22wins » Tue Apr 15, 2008 1:49 pm

Hi all! Sorry it's been a while since I've been around. But I wanted to pop on and post something that happened the other day.

I took the kids to a small pet store nearby and they happened to have a bluey. I assume he was wild caught by his scars and missing toes. He was very sweet even so. He had a big fat regenerated tail and a big ol' head. I'd guess he was an IJ but I could be wrong.

I held him for a while and when I gave him back to the owner to put back, he started squeaking like a guinee pig! Louder than Zach's bluey even. (Remember the video of Zach's bluey "squeaking"?) I thought it was so cute. I had to laugh. :lol: The guy said he'd never heard anything like it coming from a BTS before. lol

Did it sound like the balloon noise?! Pryce makes that noise, but not loudly. Now you have to buy the skink and record the noise. There's no way around it :D

Awwwww, I love it when they squeak!! Chuff almost, alllllmost made the noise a few nights ago when I was holding him upright to give him his diarrhea meds.
I know its usually a "stress" noise for them and I certainly don't want to cause them to do it for my own joy, but it does sound so cute! :lol:

I'd love to take him home but I don't have the space for another tank. I'm looking into getting a parrot or conure and I'll need the one space left for the big cage. OT - Anyone have birds? What's the quietest, least dusty medium sized bird to get? After researching, I've found there are SOOOOO many to choose from!

i have had birds all my life. my grandma had a scarlet macaw who is now 89 years old (lives with my brother) Do you want a small parrot or one that will have the ability to talk. Most parrots are like having a perpetual 2year old. They are very destructive, go through toys on a constant basis, can be very demanding for your time, and live a very very long time. I am not tryign to scare you away from a parrot, just i know what it takes. They are also very fun and very rewarding.

You can go conure, hyacinth macaw, or african grey for a medium size bird. greys are very intelligent and can have huge vocabularies. The other two i mentioned usually dont talk so much.

pm me if you want to chat more about it, i can talk for hours about birds and dont want to go too off topic.

and i love the little squeaks and snuffles that Cera makes too :D

Oh my GODS, get another Bluey, it'll chirp and squeek a lot more quietly and only when you hold it! :lol: :lol:
I love birds, but from what I've seen and heard, conures are Hella Loud.
Large parrots are a riot, my frineds have an African Grey, and its like having another child in the house.
Birds seem to be a lot of work, everything Littlefoot said is also what I've heard/seen/experienced. Some Parrots are one-person-birds, too, so the rest of the family can get ostracized by the bird.
I have had great experiences with cocatiels, however. They're large enough to be fun, and they're too small to be terrribly destructive like the bigger parrrots. And they only live for like 20+ years as opposed to 70-90.

(but I think you should get the squeaky Bluey. . .you could always ship it to me. . . :twisted:

I was offered a scarlet macaw. I know I'd like to have birds at some point, they're great. I found a few nice sites about birds. Including this one about choosing the right bird for you:

Bird bad behaviors and more:

I still say go for the bluey though. :D

Birds= a heck a lot of attention every single day. Usually around an hour a day. Hope you can manage that!~

Especially big intelligent birds like macaws.

I heard this one owner didn't play with his parrot everyday and the parrot went loopy from boredom ^^;

Good luck with the birdy if you get one fatal!~

Thanks for the great websites Fatal. I saved them to my favorites and I'll take some time tonight to check them out. :2thumbs:

Leigh, I used to have a cockatiel before I got pregnant with the twins. Then I had to give it to a friend because I couldn't get near the poo to clean the cage. (I know, too much information.) lol Anyway, my bird used to dance to the music too. :D

Raven, yeah the attention factor shouldn't be a problem. I just need to choose one that won't mind the kid's attention. They will most definitely be in his face constantly. lol

ah yes, they aer indeed very very pooey...i despise cleaning bird poo...;_;

There's also a hilarious sign in the zoo once. There was an indoor exhibit with a bunch of birds. There was a sign that said, "Birds poop every fifteen minutes. How long have you been standing there?" XD

Wow, I just checked out the choosing a bird site link, and the drumming scared the crap out of me! Didn't expect that! ( I hate unexpected loud sound in websites! Bad BAD design! :evil: )

Now crickets chirping softly in the BG, is nice and relaxing. . .

OK, so Mom, are ya getting sir Squeaky Skink? (at least theres no annoying website to navigate or bird poop to clean up after!!) Or are ya gonna send him to me? :twisted: :lol:
