and luke, why do u think your males could beat up ralphy, aggresive males that do that sort of caper i find are younger males, and with my lot,if the younger male trys going a bigger male,it gets put in its place and usually gives up ,mine only do it in the breeding season though,a couple of weeks each year, the rest of the time they get on well, thats over ten males living in the same cage to,my 2 biggest males, lowlands dont chase other males, they copulate with the girls, but they will put young aggressive ones in there place if they have a go

Hey richard!

Ok let me do this one at a time.

Female lowlands - Yeah they do have the shorter and thicker tails - but I reckon this is simply for fat reserves and the fact that females generally have the smaller tails yet longer bodies. I reckon Females generally carry more weight than males - would you agree? My reasoning is for reproduction. anyway - Onward!

Ralphies tail - Certainly looks quite big! But Ralphie in general is a big boy - I agree he doesn't look overweight - and I also agree he is one impressive unit.

My Lowlands Beating up Ralphie - Well It's only 2 of my lowlands. Lil and Lance. They are just aggressive - always have been. Lance tries to kill anything put in with him - and with ralphie being an eater rather than a fighter, I think the only way ralphie could win is if he was yawning when lance or lil tried to attack his head and instead of latching on they landed in his mouth - in which case he'd swallow them whole. :P Oh - they are aggressive year round - not just in spring. It's fun holding a bluey on the opposite side of the glass and watching lance go stupid. Both lance and Lil are smaller in bulk than say Vic or Chopper - but Lance and Lil never back down - you should see when i put Lance and lil together! Woah! fight club!

EDIT - If you reckon your blotchies would beat mine - we should set up a bluey fight! hahaha for all those that are disgusted in that comment - I'm only joking...

...not - or am I? :chin:

Finally got round to finding out Ocho's he is 42 cm from nose to tip of tail and he is 210g.
Seeing how he was only 24 cm when I got him on 15th Febuary he grows very fast. Sue

Hey guys! Well I took Booger and Chunka to work with me today to weigh them and measure them. And the results are....Chunka is an even 24 inches and 1,270 grams. Booger is 20 inches and 320 grams. I can't remember what they were last year...I'll have to dig up that old thread to find out.

That is...ENORMOUS.

Just might be the biggest skink on the boards.... We'll have to wait for Bode's updated stats -- what was the owner's name?

My girly is 21 1/2 inches (with broken tail) and 740 grams.

She's not the biggest, but considering she is an abuse case, that is respectable. She can hold her own in a Texas food fight : )

Largest Eastern that I've seen was for sale in Melbourne pet shop approx 24 inches.

Largest Eastern I've seen in the wild was 22 inches - at Lakes Entrance, Vic on the beach - big and green with a head nearly 2 inches across.

Largest lowland blotchie - not measured accurately was approx 50 cm (nothing near Richards) - grey Gippsland Blotchie. I only kept it for a short time cos wasn't interested in breeding.

I've seen lots of big dead ones on the road but never measured them.

Cera is at a petite 471 grams and 19 inches at 2 years old. LittleFoot was 21 inches and had a bit more heft to him before he died.

Sorry so late in responding...Sammy is 18 inches. Don't know her weight. Not bad for the runt of the litter! 8)

BTW, I noticed alot of the longest bluey's are IJ's. I thought Northern's were supposed to be the longest? Doesn't seem to be the case in most instances...

Drew, keep on posting, your experiences and input are just as valuable as anyone else that has kept Blueys! :D
Sorry to hear about the herp situation, but I bet there are some cool geckos or snakes that you could maybe get a hold of! And perhaps you'll find a legal way to get a bluey soon. Fingers crossed for you!
Is Singapore still the cleanest city in the world?
