Do the different colors mean they come from different areas or is it just luck of the draw?

they r quite variable,there are also 4 subspecies i believe,the aspera subspecies are from eastern australia,across the central and southen areas,the ones ian and pike show are rugosa rugosa,s,which hail from western australia,also there are two other western australian sub species,and there are lots of color variations with in each subspecies range,also i believe they have bred in the us,problem is there isnt many of them and they dont have many babies,and they command a hefty price,my oldest pair have bred the last 4 years straight,i have to keep them indoors as its to humid in melbourne to house out doors as they need to be kept pretty dry,being desert lizards,they r suspectable to respitory infections if housed in humid areas

Discuss this with Pike (Mike) he successfully kept them outdoors in Sydney (& north NSW too I think) in a very clever setup which you could easily replicate. Both those places are more humid than Melb.

Even so I know a few keepers who leave their aspers outside in Melb during Dec - Feb. Maybe a week outside then a week inside something like that.

Yes I tottaly agree with Geoff . They look alot happier outdoors and thrive nuzzling threw the logs and i believe it does there mental stimulation wonders . Its 21 celcius today but was 3 degree,s this morning ,so my own are on heat lamps and heat matts . Just i feel so sorry for them frozen solid ..And the babie,s on the uva uvb fluro tubes can keep eating .. But the tribe are all out flat side on to the sun , soaking up the rays strethching there legs . Picking off green grass shoots there happy as a pig in S***T ..Ive been to Vic and my mates do what geoff does alternate from the pit to indoors ...Lucky you dont have the dreaded bobtail influenza ..

Yere outdoors iam yet to see MBD and i still marvel at there natral behavior outdoors ..There in there element and do things ya never see indoors .Like the boys will tip over onto there side if a gravid female passes, Yere Iam certain yours would thrive outdoors . I know 20 celcius isn,t there PBT but they get to walk around in the sunlight .The old saying if you dont use it ya loose it . Ya seen Geoffs outdoor >? This i built 20 years ago ..I know there ORSM at escapeing ..But with black dollarite or iron stone .. this pit could warm up nice with black or dark rocks - Just an idea very dry . Ive got a Mate in Torquey with a pit in vic.now thats windy cold and gets nippy ...Ava look @ a few Mate good luck .

yes Shelle say mandogalup will have a gravel colour , then bullsbrook there nearly black with a fire red face . But the Tiliqua rugosa rugosa have thousands of colours im my state ..The Tiliqua Konowi on rottnest island ,garden island is now on the endangered list ..When i was 17 years old we would pick up hand fulls , But as the island is for drunken kids to cut loose..There play quocka soccer with the marcupials.. And run over the bobtails ..Push bike only island i go there by boat . Then shark bay denham have a sub species ...But 2 hours in any direction the colours range so much, till i go up the north west were there orange ..Yes i breed them and had twins last spring .Thanx pixie for posting that new baby he is 109 grams now from 90 I love the creme and burgandy red in these ...I released them ..Then seen how preeety

yeah ive heard a few people do keep them out doors down here guys,i let them out over summer,if i was going to and i hope i can id be thinking something covered,like a green house,to keep it dry,even half covered,im just paranoid,lol,and mine r breeding great indoors,but i mite have to experiment this spring,was thinking of setting something up for my beardeds outdoors and putting stumpies in there as well,as i know its much better to watch them when outdoors,more natural for them,and my group r slowly growing as i cant bring my self to sell the babies,lol
