Tigergenesis wrote:Brad, are you getting a baby or adult crested? Your cage is perfect for a juvie/adult, but for a baby it would be too big to start out with. You are going to love a crested - they are so cute!

I am starting off with an juvie/adult. I noticed that they recommend like a critter keeper for a baby, which I can do if I dont find an adult that I want, but I think I will be happy with any really. When I worked for a small pet store, they used to get in crested and I almost bought the one they had there once, but never did. She was so cool.

I guess this should be in a PM, but since it is in the OT thread, Im not too worried. What size tanks are the boas in? Just trying to get them set up before hand so I can get the temps right.

After I lost my first crested "Lil Bit" I decided I'd go with one a little older as well. Lil Bit was just a baby. Willow was 5 months old when I got him and that eased some of my fears with getting another Crested.

Brad, the boas are each in enclosures with floor dimensions of about 20x13 inches. They are in rubbermaid tubs at the moment with heating pads on one end and about 2-2.5 inches of shredded aspen. :)

hey deadeye, you live in australia right,

well my plans are to move to aussie sometime in the next 5 years so laws might change, but you seem to have an abundance of geckos, do you need a permit to keep geckos and what species can you get

I love the natural-colored leopard geckoes so much... :cloud9: They're almost unseen anymore.

'eh, bro?' Another Kiwi moving to Australia?
 Just kidding!

Licenses vary from state to state, for example in NSW you need a permit to keep any reptile. As an example you can go to
http://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/npw ... ve_animals

follow the links and it shows you all the types of reps you can keep here in NSW and what type of license you need. Victoria seems to have the most lenient laws, where for some species (eg BTS or pythons) you can just walk into a petshop and buy one, and Tasmania or WA would be the most prohibitive.

One thing in common with all states but, you CANNOT keep non-native species in Australia.

Ditto. Color morphs are cool to see but I wish people wouldn't breed them. I haven't seen a natural bearded dragon in years. :? There were NONE at the last few reptiles shows I've been to. Now that is sad.

Hooray!! Tucker, my wonderful, beautiful corn snake shed today!

Here is a picture before:

Image

And after:

Image

I wish I had a nicer camera; he has beautiful orange hues and yellowish orange on his sides. He got to eat after I took this picture and was very happy (or as happy as snakes get, I suppose).

And for good measure, here is a pic of Scout. He was sleeping with his legs back, which is what I call his "superhero" pose, since he looks like he could be zooming through the air. Unfortunately, he woke up when I stuck the camera in his tank (wonder why?)

He's an '04 creamsicle from Kathy Love. He is amazing and by far one of the best animals I have ever owned. I haven't gotten a good measurement on him in a while, but last I checked he was about 3.8 feet (45.71 inches). I measure my reptiles using SerpWidgets' Snake Measurer, which is amazing and gives a very accurate reading (shed skins stretch about two inches longer than the actual snake).

They were dead Edward from die back ..so rather than get them bulldozed ..I applied for a permit and saved the animals in them & made a few bucks Mate.. Its the quick or the dead, the trucks roll up with a D-9 and there burning animals everything , I had 2 years to trap suger gliders, bandicoots out before .Its now a freeway and suburbs ...We have a tree killing disease called die back ..I would never kill a live tree mate  dont get me wrong there stone dead white ants had eaten up the guts ...sad but true

Sure Kyle ..Least i have furniture ,the animals lived , the bee,s got a new nest .. the animals were set free in parks tiny skinks like gecko , came on the truck , and came home ...The tree,s are dying from salt rising die back ..And goverments move quicker than me ...with semi 18 wheeliers ..and dozers Mate :?
