Oh Wow, Thank you for sharing the baby milksnakes! They're incredible! How many eggs were in the clutch? Sad that the one didn't make it. But boy, the rest are gorgeous!
(I wonder why it is I find baby animals so much cuter than baby humans?
I guess they're quieter, and don't ooz from so many orifices! )

I know! Sorry Brad, my batteries arre pickled and my charger is at the other house where I'll be tomorrow. I'll try and post pics tomorrow evening! How're all your gang doing?
I'm working on handling my little guy. I'll put a hand in front of him, and gently prod him on with the other, then I let him crawl and hop from hand to hand. He usually likes to take a flying leap back into his foliage though.
How often and for how long do you recommend handling so he gets less scared and used to me? I love little Nib so much! He's like a little living rubber toy!

My adults I dont handle as much as the young ones. The reason being i want to tame down the little guys and all my adults are fairly tame/docile. The first one that hatched out on Wed, will make a cute little noise everytime i touch him. I feed the hatchlings every evening and the adults every other. So everytime I feed the little guys, I will get them out and handle them for just a little while. I will also get them out during the day on occasion. The adults I will handle a couple times a week for 10-15 mins or so. I dont handle the little guys for that long usually. Just short little handling sessions, dont want to stress them out too much.

Lol, dont worry about the pics. Just giving you a hard time.

Also forgot to mention that about half of mine will try to jump back in the foliage while the other half will not let go of my hand/finger when i am trying to put them back in the cage. They would much rather be out exploring, than being "cooped up" in a cage.

We were headed to a soccer game this morning and almost wrecked! My older daughter saw a baby anole on the front windshield wiper and started screaming bloody murder for my hubby to stop! My other kids then joined in the chaos. We had to pull over and safely deposit the poor scared lizard in a safe place. I must admit that people are starting to think my whole family is lizard crazy. They now refer to my son as "the kid with the big blue-tongued lizard." My middle daughter is referred to as the girl "with the lizard that licks its eyeballs." My little one is "the one who stole the rat pup at the reptile show." Our zoo isn't near as big as many of yours. How do people respond to your pets or you? Do you ever have visitors? Any funny stories?

Brad---The dad is pretty too. They all make poor Piper look drab. That is great that you can handle the little guys so well. I would be freaking out about them losing their tails. For those of you who don't know, their tails are prehensile with a little lamellar-like pad at the tip. (Is that accurate Brad?) When they lose their tails, they never regenerate! In nature, it is said that there are more tailless cresties than tailed ones!

Silver spoon hypothesis---Has anyone heard that the nutrition a snake/ other reptile receives during year one of life determines growth potential and therefore reproductive potential, etc. Is this a real thing or completely lacking in scientific proof? I'm new to herps but this seems fascinating and I want to know if there is any validity?

I went to some multicultural Tree planting day.
Was fun to be honest, we plant trees to help the environment we get a free lunch and we have bands playing and all that sort of stuff...

There was also a tent with reptiles...
so i took some pictures!
