I saw a long tailed lizard today at the pet store, has anyone ever had one? I would be afraid of the kids handling them because they are all tail...anyone ever have(had) one?

SailleSkinkLover- I love Zeek. Leos are another of my favorite lizards. Dont find too many mean ones out there. That is one species that I prefer the normal colored ones over all the different morphs out there.

Oh MY Gosh Brad, meeee toooo. The Blizzards are kind of gross, like Leos turned inside out! I'm just not keen on the weird morphs in general. I love Zeek because she has a happy face on the top of her head thats really cute. (I'll post it on Monday.)
Yeah, I love lizards that are so docile and friendly and tolerant of being handled and played with. Zeek has the most deliciously obese tail I've ever seen on a Leo. I'll have to get a pic of it, but she is so wriggly and explor-ey when I take her out!
How are your little red Cresties doing with their stuck shed? All better now I hope?

Weeeeellllllll. . . I do have to make an exception: I would love an all black/hyper-melanistic Bluey if I ever had the chance. I think those are absolutely beautiful! (But I guess they're only down under in Oz, unless we get a lucky mutation up here in the states that anyone would sell?) But I would never want a weird purple or transparent one! Who needs a Bluey that looks like one of those freaky hairless cats?

The reds are doing good now. I took them out last night before spraying the cages and it seems like all the shed is gone. But I will probably go ahead and "soak" them again just to make sure.

Know several of you own cresties so I thought I'd pass along some unsolicited advice. My rescued cresty has always retained small fragments of shed at his nail margins. Extra misting, damp paper towels, etc. haven't done much to help and I've resorted to manually removing the moistened shed pieces with ( :shock:

) tweezers. This made me nervous so I put out a cry for help. Someone recommended using the little flossers that come on short wands (like for kids to use.) These work great! No sharp edges and I have so much control. The person who gave me this idea has iggies so I would imagine this would work for many kinds of lizards. Hope you don't need this info, but it has helped me alot!

Here's some of our pictures from last weekend's visit to Chicago and the Shedd Aquarium. Flash wasn't allowed and my camera skills aren't the best but enjoy and don't ask me to remember all of the lizard names. They had a shingleback but she wasn't out due to a minor surgery. :evil:

Note the description of the blue tongues, the species and even though I couldn't see them that well, I believe they were Northerns.

Takydromus sexlineatus are fun little lizards, and their tails are actually pretty sturdy, although I think they are too fast for small children. The tails grow back remarkably quickly though.

At the store I often used to use the tail as a leash, not providing much pressure, but just enough so that I could hold onto the little buggers without them running all over the place. They seem very autotomy resistant.

Oh wow, those are awesome pics! The fifth Lizard down looks like a Banded Iguana, which is weird because there was an article on BBC this morning about some guy who got arrested for smuggling them in his prosthetic leg, and they're extremely endangered! Apparently this idiot told an undercover agent that he had bred and sold some for a huge amount of money!

I gotta share this Skink call it TRACHYDOSAURUS RUGOSUS Or Tiliqua ...They Love Old rotten Kangaroo Hide they eat the big dry tendens..But ya dont get much in there diet seed ,spinafex dingo poo
