Most reach at least 17inches by the first year, if I remember correctly from various forum posts.

I was just interested to see how one progressed throughout their growing phase.

My Northern was born 6/04/07. At last weigh and measure he had reached 14.5 inches and 230 grams. His weight is down about 5 grams from record high as it is brunation and he is not eating much. I can not say I have kept a record of his progress ... only started to check when he went down for the winter.

Yeah, I need to update Sammy's growth chart. As of the end of November, she measure around 13 inches. :) It seems to have slowed down though. Don't know if that's due to the cold weather or just a normal progression...

I have a very rough log from notes I attached to pictures I've taken along the way.

7/23/07 - 9.5"
7/30/07 - 10.25"
8/4/07 - 10.5"
8/11/07 - 11"
8/27/07 - 12"
9/07/07 - 13"
9/22/07 - 14.5"

... And then I stopped. Now he is around 19" and hasn't grown much in the past month or so. He has shown no signs of brumating.

When I get into breeding, I'd like to keep logs of all the babies growths, each month for the first 2 years at least. I've always been curious at how they grow so differently. even within the same subspecies. My 2 tannies are nearly the same age, but Wocket is 3x as heavy and several inches longer than Trikks. My northern, also apx. the same age, is another 10 inches longer than Wocket, and an extra 200g+

Wow, that almost seems impossible...

Hi Zach,

I think you're looking at the wrong post. I WISH Sammy grew that fast! But the post above is from Hijinks. :D

Sammy's tail looks normal. The part that was bitten/broken off is all grown back in and it's black. I haven't been posting many pictures because I can't seem to get the close-ups in good focus. What settings do you use to get close-ups? I know we have the same camera... :)
