There's a link within that link Ray sent out that should go to a list of all effected foodstuffs made. It was broken when I tried it, but I'd be VERY curious to make sure to avoid (and pass along) the info.

Here is the exact recall of the foods. Yes it is only canned and pouched dog/cat food that is being recalled.
http://www.menufoods.com/recall/
There is actually ALOT of different brands, so if you feed your animals canned/pouched dog and/or cat food. Check this out. Also, if you feed your BTS canned cat food!

If you do feed your pets (not skinks) canned foods, stick with Royal Canin. Theirs was one of a VERY few vendors not recalled. They do not use Menu Foods to make their food, they make it themselves. Royal Canin is also pretty much breed specific. There's one variety, won't tell you which, of their dog food that is also used for croc food...
At a golf match this morning, a couple of the vendor reps groaned when the recall was mentioned, but the Royal Canin guy just smiled. His food isn't being recalled!
Anyway, not all canned/pouched foods are bad. The sliced meat varieties were using a new supplier of their wheat gluten that apparently isn't healthy. They have switched back to the previous supplier and will start to send out new batches of the product soon. One of the main contracted pet labels pulled their contract.
Now, you all may wonder what the difference is in pet foods? 17 out of 20 of the top name premium labels are being pulled. 17 out of 20 of the premium brands are all made AT THE SAME PLACE, just bagged differently! So, there really is NO DIFFERENCE between the brands... Unless if you know that the brand you like is an independent brand, like Royal Canin and the brand by Dick Van Patten.
Geesh, go figure.. Bad foods, same producer...

If it's not fresh, and not Merrick, I'll feed Nutro from PetSmart. It's on the list (many thanks for a working link Brad!!!!!!!!) but I don't feed pouch food.
Luckily I bought about two flats of the Nutro food and haven't fed all winter, so I doubt it's bad. I'm just not buying any for quite a while. I do cat food about once a week, if not less. Sometimes time doesn't allow a home cooked meal.
Merrick all the way!!!!!!!

THis is not necessarily true. Yes they are made in the same plant, however, they can use different ingredients, different formulas, better quality, etc. for each individual brand.
I personally dont use any of them, however, there were still premium quality brands on that list, such as Nutro. If anyone is looking for a premium quality food, I highly recommend Eagle Pack Holistic. Yes it is expensive, but either my cat nor my dog have horrible gas. Cat doesnt have loose stools. I do not have to suppliment my dogs food with Dermcaps for her dry, itchy skin. It is just great. I couldnt be any happier. Plus it is made in the great state of Indiana! lol

Actually, I was surprised and relieved to see Purina was NOT on the list! Purina ONE seems to be one of the few Dry cat foods that have meat as the 1st ingredient, that doesn't cost a fortune!!

yes i think it is only a USA/Canada problem. I thought I read that somewhere. But it might be a good idea to look over their website again, just to make sure.
