Can I feed this funky squash?

I know I asked this in another thread, but I never saw an answer, so I'll try its own thread:

Can skinks eat chayote squash?

Now Kyle gave me a lovely set of directions in how I could eat it, but I'm not so big on eating squash (unless it is sliced and fried in breading!) -- but Maya might be....

My directions were for general preparation... :nono: :lol: It's tougher than standard squash so if you steam it a little or blanch it in some boiling water for a few minutes after cutting it into pieces, it might make it a little easier to eat for EVERYONE.... :nanny: :)

...and they're called "Green Butt Squash." Because they look like little green behinds.

Felmarg, zucchini is a squash... yep! :) I don't have my first Bluey baby yet, but my Beardie and Uro love squash... 'specially butternut, acorn and yellow scallops or "patty pans".

There's an awesome food chart/guide in the Bluey caresheet on this site. It's the 4th item down the list in the Forum Index. Kyle Weiss even did a notepad version you can keep handy in your car or wherever... on your way to do your Bluey shopping.

Btw, the whole caresheet is very helpful... I read it a few times ;)

So.... Are all types of squash okay, or just the ones on the food chart? Also, I have been on this site fairly often for over a year. I just did not participate in the forums untill now. :banana2:

I would say any squash is okay. They are all essentially listed on the chart - just some are listed individually, but then there are the general terms Summer squash and Winter squash on the chart that emcompass all the rest.

Do you have to cook it? as feeding it raw gets turned down every time, good thing I found out I like it, but it is hard raw.

I feed all my greens and veggies raw. I use the chopper to get it nice and small.

What she said. :)

Try adding some pureed fruit to bind the greens/veggies together (or even puree the veggies). Creating a type of 'paste' with pureed fruit or veggies binds it together making it more difficult for them to pick out certain things and makes it more apppetizing. You also might try chopping the greens/veggies smaller.
