question
yesterday i fed my skink some watermelon and it dropped on the substrate, so he swallowed some aspend shavings! is this alright? will eventually come out? hes looking fine today, but im still concerened 'cause it looked like he had a hard time swallowing.

If it was a fairly small piece it should pass ok. Just watch his bm's for the next couple days. Thin aspen shavings absorb water real well as you know from clean-ups. In the stomach, they will soften sufficiently so as not to puncture the stomach or intestine and pass on through. I have seen mine ingest small pieces with no problems, but that has now got me placing down a paper towel on the aspen, and placing his food dish on it, just because they are such mannerly eaters.
